Spreading the Gospel...Aint for Chickens!

A man in the ward asked us if we would come help him with a special service project on the 23rd! we agreed! He told that we would be slaughtering chickens....makes sense right?.......on a hot humid day.....that sounds like the PERFECT activity! hahaha

well he wanted to cook them and make them for his wife because it was his birthday! so he taught us how to do it! And then we skinned them and gutted them! It was also sister Christensen's birthday....so this was my gift to her! NOTHING SAYS HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIKE A CHICKEN SLAUGHTER FEST........and thats a fact.
*pictures will be attached* ;)
Well...we are full on...OUT of miles for the month (we are allotted a certain amount of miles to drive per month) so we walked.....and walked.....and walked.....and....drove ha not we walked some more! and we talked to people on the street as we went from appointment to appointment! SO FUN! so hot....but so fun...haha....and then i realized! "WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pioneers walked in circumstances worse than this! And in shoes worse than this!" It was a sweet memorial to those who came before me!!! I am so thankful to the pioneers who made way for religious freedom and also spread the truth of the restored gospel FEARLESSLY!

So as we were walking to the Elder's Quorum president's home we saw a man on the side of the road buying a car! We stopped and talked...his name was Larry and he told us that he had a daughter serving a mission in mexico, building homes for his lutheran church! we told him that we admire that! Told him about the book of mormon and gave him our card! FAST FORWARD!!!!!!!!!! Its sunday....sacrament meeting is about to start.....and who comes in????? LARRY! He showed up! WHO DOES THAT????? I'll tell you who....in wisconsin NO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you go to YOUR Church and there you stay....hahaha but it was a GREAT MIRACLE that we had been praying for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are meeting with him this week!!!!
Love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that God loves us! Christ atoned for the sins of all!!!!!!!!!! Its hard to accept sometimes because it is hard to fathom! but indeed i don't understand how! but i do understand why!!!!!!!!!! John 3:16.....THATS why! :) LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Ashton!!! A job worth doing is worth doing well!!!" -Dad

My dad said the above quote ALLLLL OF THE TIME growing up! weather i vacuumed for 2 seconds and called it good...or weather i did my version of doing the dishes (running a plate under semi-warm water) he would tell me that a job worth doing is worth doing WELL ...why didnt it stick till now??? good question! but my goodness! better late than never eh?

this work is important!!! appleton has a lot of people! there are people to see, people to touch, people to find! and i really know that!!!! so a job worth doing has definitely fallen upon me and I am trying to follow dad's advice by doing the job well! not for anyone else but for the Lord

We really saw some fruit this week!!!! we knocked on the door of a man named Ty who a member told us moved into the area! We didn't know if he was not a member or was! so we went! they let us inside and he and his wife informed us that he was a member (not active) and she had been taught by sisters before (lamprecht and gifford) (sis gifford replaced me in Milwauke YSA) and that Kylii (wife) was going to get baptized but they just fell out of contact! WELL!...we taught them about Joseph Smith and eternal families! AND Kylii has agreed to be baptized on August 14th! we are SO EXCITED! their little family can go to the temple and experience the blessings there! WE WERE SO EXCITED AFTER THAT LESSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after all lessons we were excited!!!!!!!!!!

cool story......also odd..........hahaha we were walking down the street on our way to an appt. but we gave some extra time so we could talk to people in their yards or the street! and we see a younger guy in his yard....sitting on a chair...clipping his toe nails...and what is he wearing...nothing. HAHA...well not nothing.,....but not much! but hey! TEACH ALL NATIONS?.....haha so we went and talked to him....i never had so much eye-contact with an individual!! haha but despite the awkward situation! HE was an honest seeker of truth! GOOD GUY! he was hmong and so we let the hmong elders go back and teach him! but it was just really great!!!! and unexpected! haha so if you want to find the restored gospel....sit outside in nothing and clip your toe nails....doctrine i tell you!
Saw sister Quist this week!!!! SHE IS A DOLL AND I LOVE HER!!!!!
(picture will be attached) :)
sister Christensen is great. the work is great! REALLY progressing! Trying to get the ball rolling and bring more people to the truth!

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!

OH BLESSED APPLETON!
ok. have NO TIME! because sister Christensen and I are going to buy cactus' :)

but i love appleton. humble, good, solid, kind people!
Sister Christensen is from PROVO and totally is the niece of RICH AND LAURIE PINEGAR from the marsing 2nd ward (my homeward)...and she was baptized in the McCunes pool! NO BIGGGGIIIE....my worlds just COLLIDED!

we are working hard to really develop the work in the area! we both came to the conclusion that we want to make a lasting impression on the ward! or rather....we want to inspire...NOT impress! :) we do this by bringing others to Christ!! I know that this is the WORK OF JESUS CHRIST!
I feel a desire to SERVE and serve well! Serve in a way that is pleasing to my God!
Love you all!

also....leaving my home milwaukee was HARD! But i love being in the counrty! THE CITY CAN WAIT! There are people who need the gospel in Appleton! hahaha :)
this work is so true. its real. and its for all!

Doubling Out of Milwaukee

On sunday Morning we received the Transfer Text (lets us know who is leaving the milwaukee area...but not where they are going to)...i saw "S. Mansfield" and thought "oh well that makes sense! Shes been here awhile!" but then read "S. Wise" and proceeded to let a slight gasp/hiccup escape from my mouth that sounded like a small bird choking while sipping down some cherry cola.....did that make sense? haha i was surprised to say the least! but due to no sisters coming into our mission for quite sometime..we have had to downsize the mission...and i guess our area was next! So now it is just Elders in the ward! so they will teach our investigators! we hope it to be a smooth transition! Sister Mansfield is going to MUSKEGO LAKES! and I am going up north to Appleton!!! SUPER EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

But hey! Just because we were leaving didn't mean we didn't kill it this week! We were so goal focused this week! (not number focused) and we said "okay! What do we need to do to reach these goals!?!?" and then we did it! and we saw miracles!

Miracle #1: having served in the milwaukee YSA ward for quite awhile I know that there is one thing that ward needs!...SOLID YOUNG MEN! hahaha and so sister mansfield and i were at the store and the kid checking out our items said "oh...who do you serve for??" and i said "oh we are missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! have you ever heard of that church?" and he said no! and we talked a bit and then i said "Hey well how old are you???" and he said 18 and then i told him "Hey we have a congregation of younger people ages 18 to 31
and he said "THAT is what i need! can i get your number!????" and again....scraped my jaw off the floor and got his number and we gave him the YSA elders number! SUPER AWESOME! Solid guy!!!!!!!!!!

Miracle #2: I have been thinking A LOT about when elder schwitzer from the 70 visited our mission!!..he taught us about the key to starting up a religious conversation! it is CASH! (1)compliment 2)ask a question 3)Smile 4)offer help...and as of late i have REALLY been focusing on the compliment! Who doesn't want a compliment???? I know i love them!!!!! anyway! we saw a guy in the hood who had some ssswweet malcom x style glasses!!!!!! and i said "Hey whats up???? LOVE the glasses!" and he said "Thanks lens crafters!" and boom. book of mormon! boom! he has a FRIEND who is mormon! boom taught the first vision...BOOM! life is good! and again we gave him the YSA elders number and they are meeting this week! SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh!!!!!!!!!!! WE MET OUR NEW MISSION PRESIDENT! SIster and president Williams!!!!!!!!! WHAT!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?!?!?THEY ARE AWESOME! Both converts and both served missions in Germany! I am so excited that they are here! They have some lofty but realistic goals for the mission!!!!!! We are excited to work HARD with them!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this gospel! Sometimes things get tough out here! SUPER tough! but just keeping on keeping on!!!! A Sister in the mission taught me a valuable concept about prayer! she said "Instead of saying "Please bless me with *Blank*" say "Father! bless me with *blank*...but if not...help me have strength to do Thy Will!: i have been doing this more! WHAT A STRENGTH IT HAS BEEN! not easy! but easier with Christ!
LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!
