The Latter-day Saints give their Heart Might Mind and...Free Candy?

So the LDSSA booth has been wonderful! We were talkin to the whole dang campus about the gospel! So how we get people to even stop at the booth is we offer free candy if they take a survey on religion that we give!!! and these students just flock in!!!! its so great!!!!!!!!!

anywho! we met with Bailey this week! (A psychology major at UWM) and she agreed to be baptized in MAY! WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! we taught her the Plan of Salvation and she really appreciated the fact that she can live with God again and that those who were not Christian in this life will have the opportunity in the next! She is awesome!

And also! our Bishops wife was raised Jewish and the converted to Mormonism when she was attending Standford for grad school! and so every year she does a jewish sader! (passover meal) and so she invited us! And it was interesting! it was half jews and half mormons haha and of course we substituted the wine for grape juice! but it was so interesting!

It was crazy! Because during the meal (which is highly symbolic and all of the food presented points to the Messiah who is to come) bishop turned to us and he said "The lamb bone on the table represents the lamb...the lamb of God..because it is ONLY through the lamb we are saved!" and RIGHT when he said that i realized "oh my gosh...HALF the people believe that lamb is Jesus Christ and HALF do not!" I was just so grateful at that time that i have the knowledge that salvation comes ONLY through the name of Jesus Christ! ONLY! It is such a comfort to me!!! i am grateful i know that! I am not just grateful but i KNOW that i know that!

one last thing! I was sitting on the bus and i was really tired! It was early in the morning and we had to catch a bus to go to UWM to see bailey...and i was thinking " I could easily just look out the window and day dream about dance or something" and then i thought "Nah God would rather have you read the book of mormon! so i pull it out and start reading! and then at the next stop! This guy gets on and sits behind me....after a minute or two he taps me on the shoulder and said "Excuse me...whats ward are you in???" and i said "YSA" what ward are you in??? and he said "I'm not a member! just saw you were reading the book of mormon!...i used to learn from the missionaries years ago..but lost contact!" ...once i collected myself and closed my mouth! haha i asked him waht he learned and got his number and referred him to the elders! His name was akel! And he was a lost sheep that has been found! THAT is the power of reading the book of mormon! so grateful!
WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! life is good! life is better when we have the gospel! I know it!

LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sister Wise - "Do you want to know more about our message?" Sister K - "no, no Sister Wise...he can't hear"

hello friends and family! i just realized that my last email i didn't end in my testimony! oops! hahaha I KNOW that Jesus is the Christ! I know that He has the power to change us! Its nice that its not just up to our own will power! I am grateful for that! we had stake conference yesterday and president Nussbaum (2nd counselor) quoted my favorite man! (C.s. Lewis) and talked about us being a house...and a man (Christ) comes in fixing things but then tearing things down...putting a wall up here...expanding a room here..it hurts at the begininng because you don't look liike you used to! but then he makes you into a palace, His palace! only He can do that and i am grateful for that!

okay!!! so super super super super super super cool!!!!!!!! we did the LDSSA booth at UWM with brother wheeler! We have some survey's put out by the CES and then we give them a free candy bar! what college kid doesn't want THAT??? hahaha so i was talking to some other girl and sister kirchhoefer was at the booth and when i turned around she and brother wheeler (institute professor) were looking at me and pointing at this guy and i stuck my hand out and introduced myself and sister kirchhoefer said "hey he is deaf! teach him in ASL". HA....HA...Haha.....ah....i was so scared! hahahaha and so i asked him how he is and he said well and then i proceeded to teach the first vision in SIGN language!?!??! what???? I don't know sign language!!! Well just a little! but then we got his number and info and gave him a book of mormon! wow! what the! it was God! because with Him all is possible! I truly believe that!

ALSO! since our area is GIGANTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! when we don't have time to take the bus we spend time in the car...which stinks....so to not waste time we try to call different people in the phone we don't recognize!!!! and we have gotten a lot of return appointments that way! IT IS WAY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one was with a girl named bailey who is a student at UWM and we met with her on friday morning at the school library! she was awesome! she is interested and identifies with Joseph Smith because she too is confused on why there are so many churches! SO COOL! So prepared!

I love you all friends and family! I love Jesus Christ and am grateful to be His servant! Heck! I am just grateful to be His in general! Love you all!

Transfer Week

well its transfer week! so crazy! These 7 weeks went by SO FAST!!!!!!!!! sister Kirchhoefer and i will be together these next 6 weeks for sure! After That...who knows??? oh the places i will go! hahahah

something SO COOL! was sister kirchhoefer and i took the bus early in the morning downtown and i was sitting in the front of the bus and this guy sits next to me and i told him that i liked his socks...and then we talked gospel! haha i asked him what he did for work and he said he works at sears and i told him that we, as missionaries, take our cars into sears A LOT! and he said "oh are you the latter day saints?" and i said yes sir and he told me he used to learn from the elders!..then he said "you are all nice people! I can tell one from miles away!" and this lady behind us yelled out "Totally you can!"...and thus we see...i was confused!...haha and then this guy gets off the bus to go to work and i go sit my this lady and give her a squinty eyed confused face....and said "you know the mormons too??" and she said "yes! I used to take the lessons in pennsylvania!" so i asked her what they taught and then gave her a Book of Mormon because i guess they didn't give her one or she lost it! IDK but still! MIRACLES ON THE BUS! hahhaha

we started doing a really cool booth thing with the assistants! (we and the assistants cover the Singles ward)...we don't have enough students who are members at UWM to have an institute! so we have to make it a club! so its called LDSSA! (LAtter-daay saint student association!) and we had a booth set up in the student union building and we just talked to different people who were interested! And of course we give them candy if they talk to us! so thats cool! STINKS though because not a lot of girls want to admit that they want candy.....so i suggested we give out fruit arrangements hahaha....that idea got shut down! hahahaha no but it was awesome!

we also had a YSA fireside on saturday with a branch president in port washington! It was way sweet! it was an awesome presentation on mormonism and the myths and and intro to the religion! And then elder marsh and i were asked to give some closing thoughts! it was sweet! good turn out!

LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! happy to be a missionary! happy happy happy! Wish it were spring in Wisconsin! ALMOST! hahhaha oi'm not losing home yet! hahhahaha

LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!! Shout out to my baby sister mallory! shes the cutest prom queen i have ever seen! :)

Build a Bridge!

So there are LOTS of engineers in Wisconsin! and many are LDS and in the family ward i serve in! a couple (the wahr's) took us out to lunch for soup and salad and brother wahr told us that he is an engineer! And i asked what kind and he said that he specializes in building bridges! i thought that was way cool! so i proceeded to ask what even goes into that.......and then i said "Hey everybody! what does brother Wahr do when he has a bad day!?" and sister Kirchhoefer said "HE BUILDS A BRIDGE AND GETS OVER IT!" and then we high fived and casually went back to eating our salads! IT WAS AWESOME! #companionshipunity so funny! they thought that was good!

anyway! it was a great week! Janette! Our 91 year old investigator has agreed to be baptized at the end of the month! She is blind, weak and feeble! BUT it can happen for sure for sure!

I don't have much time! BUT general conference was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i loved all talks! All were the word of God and i know that! i loved the quote by elder holland "The first and great fcommandment is to love God! but the first great truth is that He loved us first!" how true is THAT!?!? I have felt His love so much in this past year! for myself yes...but mostly for OTHERS! It is such a blessing to teach and minister to these people i meet out here! I am so blessed to be a minister in this church!

Another WAY cool thing is that we are teaching Bingyan! She is a student at Marquette University and is from Southern China! we had a lesson with her at Athena's ( chinese recent Convert) and we taught about God! and His existence and why He is who and what He is! She said she would be baptized when she came to know this all was true!
I love this Gospel! for i know that it is Christ's! THAT is something i got out of conference! this is HIS general conference! He is so involved in what goes on at Conference! So involved! He is not only presiding...but He is directing! He is what makes the church true, constant, and legitament! I am so grateful for Him and i love Him!

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
